General Recommendations & Requirements for Admissions

There is no required high school GPA for acceptance into Spelman, but they do create an ideal student profile that changes each year. In general, the recommended GPA is above 3.5. Only the common application is accepted, and you can choose between five subject prompts for the required essay.

You will also need to submit your SAT or ACT scores, an official high school transcript, two letters of recommendation and the application fee. The preferred minimum test scores change each year.

Spelman has a binding early-decision contract, but you can apply for early action without committing fully. The deadline for early decision or action consideration is different than the general application deadline.
