Perhaps when someone mentions colleges in Washington state, things like Gonzaga basketball or research at University of Washington may come into one’s head. The University of Puget Sound is a moderately selective liberal arts school in Tacoma, WA. This school offers its 2,600 undergraduate students over 1,200 courses on every subject from Business Development to Human Sciences, as well as countless opportunities for learning outside the classroom. Though the fees are high for this college, loans, grants, and various other forms of financial aid are available.
Whitman College, is among the top liberal arts institutions in the country and has a moderate acceptance rate. The school is located in Walla Walla, WA, a small residential college town. Whitman allows its students to design their own independent study programs, though the college is known for its excellent science program. Students have plenty of options for extracurricular activities, and among the most popular are the Greek life organizations.
