Birmingham-Southern College was established in 1856 when the Southern University and Birmingham College merged together. Up until 1918, the two schools operated in their respective facilities until merging under the same campus. Although the campus grounds have undergone updates and the additions of new buildings, some of the original buildings from Birmingham College are still present to show the schools rich history and future longevity.
