Berea College of Kentucky is distinctive for offering tuition-free education. This liberal arts college is one of the only in the country to offer this feature, and it makes the college highly attractive but also very selective. Every student attends the school on a full-tuition scholarship worth $24,300 annually. There are 32 majors of study and a mandatory work-study program that places students in campus and community service jobs of at least 10 hours per week.

Berea College is academically competitive and looks for strong candidates who have both academic potential and financial need.

High school students applying should have completed study in at least four units of English (including composition and literature), three units of Mathematics (at least Algebra I and II and Geometry), two units of Laboratory Science, two units of Social Science, and two units of a foreign language.

Applicants must submit high school transcripts and either ACT or SAT scores. The admission period is open between October 31 and March 31.
